This position applies insulating materials to process piping, duct-work, or other mechanical systems in order to help control and maintain temperature in an industrial setting. Must be a team player.
ACTIVITIES:
- Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors;
- Remove old insulation, following safety procedures;
- Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required;
- Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed, and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape, and equipment use;
- Install metal around insulated pipes in order to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage;
- Select appropriate insulation based on the heat retaining or excluding characteristics of the material;
- Read blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements;
- Apply and seal the specific called for insulation “Finish” in a safe and neat appearance;
- Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed;
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-5 years of industry experience required; more than 5 years of industry experience preferred;
- Knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and process piping equipment;
- Knowledge of specifications and limitations of insulation materials;
- Good sense of housekeeping and organizational skills;
- VCA;
- Driver licence.
